Source: Malagasy oral-tradition proverb (ohabolana); in motmalgache.org (Dictionnaire et Encyclopédie malgaches), which prints it as "Ataovy fihavanam-bava sy tanana: raha marary ny tanana, dia mitsoka ny vava; ary raha marary ny vava, dia misafo ny tanana", with the interpretation quoted here, citing Le Livre de la Sagesse Malgache, Ohabolana ou Proverbes Malgaches, Ny Ohabolana ny Taolo and Proverbes et Locutions Malgaches.
